Paul Manning Speaks at Hazmat Management Magazine’s Remediation Technology Seminar

I was delighted to to join the roster of speakers at  Hazmat Management Magazines’ Remediation Technology Seminar at the Mississauga Convention Centre in Mississauga today.,

The seminar provided an overview of new developments in remediation technology in Canada and discussed how new regulations will impact the approach to the clean-up of contaminated sites. I spoke on the second of these topics and reviewed:

  • The government’s  current Management of Excess Soil: A Guide for Best Management Practices
  • The likely new regime resulting from Ontario’s Soil Management Policy Framework
  • Opportunities to create offset credits in the context of soil treatment under Ontario’s new Cap and Trade Emissions Trading Program; and
  • The impact of the decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal in the Midwest case
