Paul Manning Speaks at the  Hazardous Waste and Environmental Response Conference – HWERC 2019

I was delighted to to join the roster of speakers at the  Hazardous Waste and Environmental Response Conference – HWERC 2019, which took place at the Mississauga Convention Centre in Mississauga yesterday and today.

My presentation, titled The Duty to Report Spills and Hazmat Incidents, covered federal law  reporting requirements under the Fisheries Act  and under the recently introduced Environmental Emergency Regulation, 2019, as well as the provincial duties to report environmental spills and discharges in Ontario under the Environmental Protection Act.

The conference provided an essential and timely forum to discuss the management of hazardous waste and special materials, soils and site remediation, hazmat transportation, spill response and cutting-edge technologies and practices. Congratulations to the organizers, Hazmat Management Magazine and the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA) on a successful first conference, which we hope will become an annual event.
